we've banned apples

So, we thought we'd start the year off with something for the kids teachers. We couldn't just send apples, (sooo old school), instead we sent them with these. Not that we are looking for special attention at school, but it did cross our mind that these may just help. Now that I think about it, maybe I should send some over to the principal since we have gotten to know him quite well. I guess we should also do the nurse, and probably give some to the lunch lady and the....

If your teachers need a treat also, here's the recipe:

Caramel Bars
3/4 cup melted butter

1 cup flour
1 cup oatmeal
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 bag of caramels
3 TBSP. butter
3 TBSP. cream
1 cup (or however much you like) chocolate chips
Combine the butter, flour, oatmeal, brown sugar and baking soda and mix well. Put 3/4 of the mixture in a 9x13 pan, pressing evenly over the bottom of pan. bake for 10 minutes at 350. Meanwhile, in a saucepan, combine the caramels, butter and cream and heat, stirring, until caramels are melted. Pour the caramel mixture over the crust and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Top with remaining butter-oatmeal mixture. Bake 15 minutes more. Cool and cut into bars.
**Secret to making these REALLY good. Always use Kraft caramels, and DOUBLE the crust recipe.

Okay, I need your secret to photographing food. You are amazing! Yes, I will be trying these and yes, I will be eating most of them myself. I have one slice of the Choc. chip brownie Torte left and it will be gone by breakfast, yum is all I can say.

I may be asking you to email me this picture too:)

Stephanie, you are gold girl. Rob told me about the cute pictures. Riley looks so much like Brynn when she was little. I have pictures of a house we built when Megan was 2. Priceless!
